Weather in Prague
At this time of year, the weather is usually very cold — typically between 5–10 °C during the day and about 0 °C at night. Expect cloudy skies, showers, or occasional rain.
Finance
Currency
We use our own currency called the Czech Crown (CZK) or Koruna česká (Kč).
Banknotes are issued in values of 100 to 5,000 CZK, and coins from 1 to 50 CZK. There are no coins smaller than 1 CZK.
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted — most major types including AMEX are usable. However, cash may be required at some clubs for entrance fees or at small vendors and street food stalls.
At venues where our events take place, cards are accepted in most cases — please check individually for each event.
Exchange Rates (Approximate)
- 1 EUR = 25 CZK
- 1 GBP = 30 CZK
- 1 USD = 23 CZK
ATMs
ATMs are available throughout the city — in the city center, shopping malls, and at most underground stations.
We do not recommend using ATMs operated by EuroNet, due to high fees and Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC).
In general, you can rely on using your card in most places around Prague, including the clubs used during Czech Puppy weekend.
The Clubs and Connections
The main venue for the election night is P.M. Club (Trojická Street).
The side venue for the warm-up and after party is Heaven Club (Gorazdova street).
Both clubs are just 250 meters from Palackého náměstí, which has excellent tram connections and access to the Karlovo náměstí underground station. Trams provide convenient connections from almost all directions, and underground line B runs from the west side of Prague to the east. Night lines also operate in all directions—two night trams from Palackého náměstí and four night buses from Jiráskovo náměstí.
Accommodation
We recommend finding a hotel along underground line B (yellow), for example in Smíchov or Radlice. However, you shouldn't have a problem coming from almost any direction. Just make sure to check connections in case your accommodation is in a less accessible area.
We suggest using Booking.com and AirBnB. Bellow are some hotel examples:

This hotel is close to Náměstí Míru, an area with many LGBTQ+ and hipster-friendly businesses. It has a direct tram connection to P.M. Club.

Located in the up-and-coming district of Karlín, full of quality new restaurants and bistros, this hotel has a direct underground connection to P.M. Club.
Shops in general
Shopping malls are open 7 days a week, usually 9 AM to 9 PM. Small shops outside of malls might be closed on the weekend, but most of the shops in the city center stay open on Saturdays and Sundays as well. Many convenient stores are located in the city, but convenient stores in the city center have much higher prices even for basic stuff
Public transportation
Prague has a second best network of public transport, covered by Metro and dense tram network in the city center, and buses at the outskirts of the city. Prague's metro has three lines labeled A, B and C which runs daily 5 AM to 12 AM. Between 12 AM and 5 AM the night trams and night buses are in operation
Planning app
You can download the app for planning the route and purchase of tickets on App Store or Google Play, links at https://app.pidlitacka.cz. Google Maps planning uses information about public transportation in Prague
Tickets
You can buy tickes in vending machines at each Metro station which you will need to validate. Also in buses and trams there is a small orange machine where you can buy ticket those are valid from time of purchase.

Taxi
The Uber/Bolt services are operating in Prague/Czech Republic. We don't recommend stopping a taxi on the street, always use mobile phone apps or call for a taxi using the taxi call center service
Car and Bike sharing
You can use car-sharing for getting around Prague. The most known is Car4Way and AnyTime. For bikesharing we recommend Rekola. We don't recommend electic scooters like Lime as Prague is really not adapted to them.
Internet/mobile network
If you are traveling from an EU country, EU roaming rules apply. Please check with your home mobile operator. For non-EU travelers there are often free Wi-Fi networks inside shopping malls, restaurants. Prepaid SIM cards are very costly in Czechia so use Wi-Fi if possible. The Club Kotelna, where the Czech election event is held, has a free Wi-Fi for guests. The password is located at the venue.
How to get to Prague
By train
International trains are coming to Praha Hlavní nádraží (Prague's main railway station), which is situated at the city center, about 5 minutes walk from Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas square). Metro station called "Hlavní nádraží", which is line C (red one) is in a building of the train station.
By car (parking)
Parking within city center can be done usually by renting a garage at website https://www.mrparkit.com/en. Parking on a street is paid in Prague. P+R is located at the city outskirts usually next to metro stations and the daily fee is 50 or 100 CZK (depends on location). In city centre there are "blue zones" which are paid per hour. More information about parking at https://www.praguehere.com/parking-prague.
By plane
There is a Václav Havel Airport inside Prague (airport code PRG). You can use public transport as a way of getting to the city. Trolley bus number 59 can take you to the ending station “Nádraží Veleslavín”. There is a metro station which you can use.
Advice is not to take a taxi on the street at the airport, but always use services such as Uber, Bolt or call the taxi using the call center. The Estimated price of a taxi from the airport to city center should be about 500-750 CZK (depending on travel demand etc.), which is 20-30 €.
